the house boat club vs renting
Renting vs The Club
When comparing The Houseboat Club to traditional houseboat rentals, the differences become clear almost immediately. Traditional rentals often mean paying premium pricing for older boats that may not be well maintained. What appears to be a straightforward rental quickly becomes expensive once hidden fees are added — inflated on-lake fuel charges, early boarding fees, damage deposits, and miscellaneous add-ons that significantly increase the final cost. Most rental companies require you to refuel on the lake at marina prices, which are often nearly double the cost of fuel on land. In addition, you are typically charged for gray and black water pumping services at the end of your trip. What starts as one advertised price can quickly grow into something much more expensive.
The houseboat Club vs Timeshare
Timeshares vs The Club
Houseboat timeshares require a large upfront buy-in — often $50,000 to $100,000 — plus annual maintenance fees ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 or more. Beyond those yearly costs,
owners may be responsible for repairs costs not covered under maintenance. For example if an engine goes out and the normal dues won’t cover that cost, You may be paying out of pocket for those repairs. In some cases, owners are even expected to contribute time and labor themselves to help offset maintenance costs — meaning you may be required to go down and participate in repair or upkeep work to protect your ownership investment. That’s hardly a vacation model. On top of that, you are purchasing a depreciating asset that loses value over time. Insurance restrictions often limit how ownership can be shared, meaning the primary purchaser usually must be present, making it difficult to use as a shared family investment or business asset.
What The Club Offers
The Houseboat Club was created to solve these problems. Instead of buying a depreciating asset or renting an outdated boat with surprise fees, members enjoy newer boats, priority upgrade opportunities, and a simplified ownership structure. All maintenance and repairs are handled by the club — completely covered — so members never have to lift a finger beyond enjoying their time on the water.
By joining the houseboat club you are purchasing the rights to a full week on a specific houseboat at Lake Powell in Page. After selecting which boat you like you will select from the available weeks on that boat. You will pay for your club membership dues to use the boat for the week you have selected. Included in the membership you will recieve grocery delivery, launch and retrieval with a captain, boat cleaning service, grey and black water dumping, on land re-fueling, early boarding and discounted rentals for other watersport items. Dues vary depending on the week you choose. You can cancel after any year, but you will lose the rights to your owned week and your membership with the club. Please call for pricing.
While our boats are launched from land, members benefit significantly by refueling at land- based fuel prices — often more than half the cost of on-lake marina fuel. This alone can create substantial savings over the course of a trip. Additionally, our process helps reduce excessive gray and black water service charges that commonly add up in traditional rentals.
Members receive priority access to new boats as they are introduced, including the ability to upgrade before weeks are offered publicly. Our insurance structure allows multiple owners per week, making it easy to share among family members or business partners without usage restrictions tied to one individual. We also offer optional trip insurance so members can protect their vacation investment for that year. Why pay if you can’t use your week.
Members receive a 10% discount on additional rentals such as ski boats, surf boats, and waverunners. Our service model is built around convenience — land-based loading and assisted launch into the bay, available grocery stocking service, damage waivers, and overall concierge-level support
